University of Sussex ISC are lingobeeing

The University of Sussex ISC are delighted to have signed up six students to take part in the LingoBee trials. The group are all Chinese students on the Pre-Masters programme here at USISC.

Unlike the trial being run at our sister centre (Bellerby’s group in Oxford), this trial focuses on a monolingual group who are studying on the same programme and have the same language level (IELTS 5.5-6.5). We want to see if this user group behaves differently, especially as they are not being ‘taught’ by a teacher, but instead are being encouraged to use the app autonomously as a group. This will hopefully show us to what extent the Sussex group truly crowd-source the data they encounter.

We hope that through the LingoBee trial these students will enhance their profiles within the university, and that their experience of using LingoBee will help them to integrate into both university life and British life in general.
